File Explorer (actually, we call it FEX because that sounds more technical) is a tool that comes with Compass Point Media's websites that allows you to manage pictures, files, videos, and much more in a way that rivals any tool available on your computer. Over 3 years in development, FEX offers a way to create slideshows on your website, store your organization's meeting minutes, keep architectural documents for your clients, and more.

Why is it so Powerful?

FEX allows you to view files, especially pictures, in a very easy interface. It handles creation of thumbnails of your pictures so you don't have to. It also allows you to resize those large pictures you upload from your digital camera. FEX works with the "right-click" button on your mouse to present custom menus, called context menus, depending on where you click. Cut, copy, paste, create a new folder - all with a few clicks. To select multiple files, hold down the control key; power users will appreciate how we have integrated these features into the program.

  • FEX hides file extensions (like .jpg, .doc, .pdf) so you don't have to worry about it.
  • FEX allows you to rename any file just by selecting "rename" and typing the name in.
  • FEX allows you to get a whole bunch of files off your website, just click each file you want, right click, and select Download Zip File.. within seconds, you'll have those files on your computer
  • FEX allows you to "scrunch" files that you upload on the fly. At the same time it keeps the original as a copy if you want. So, pictures from your digital camera are automatically resized for the Web!
